The primary goal of self defense is to neutralize the threat as quickly and efficiently as possible. There is very little fighting etiquette to learn and an emphasis is placed on being able to react out of instinct with proper self-defense & attack moves during any physical confrontation, as well as during armed robberies.

We routinely train in disarming guns, but do not think that you need to be a police officer to get the most out of this program! The real skills we teach are based on how to avoid situations that might put you in harm's way.

I started training with sensei Ryan in the mid-1990s when I was in junior high and high school, when he was running an American karate dojo, and have trained more recently with him in danzan ryu jujitsu. I can say from personal experience that Ryan is an exceptionally well-rounded martial artist, both physically and spiritually, and continues to evolve in his own learning--a sign of someone who is truly committed to martial studies. What really makes Ryan stand out, however, is his enthusiasm and skill in instructing. Teaching is something that he clearly has a passion for. Master Neuman is an amazing martial artist with incredible skills. I have trained with him for many years and his Filipino boxing and weapons are simply awesome. His knowledge of the human body and ability to use striking or joint lock techniques makes his technical skills unsurpassed. Latosa Escrima and Danzan Ryu jujitsu flow together to make for what I consider to be the perfect self defense blend. If you are interested in martial arts training and want to work with a true master it is worth checking out a class.
